March 20-21 Hermosa Beach, CA 3rd Annual National Beach Boomerang Champoinships and Expo

We are scheduled for the 20th and 21st of March which has always been a great weather weekend for us. As usual we will do an all Head-to-Head style of tournament which means everyone will throw a LOT!

Last year we talked about using this stage (the soft sand) as a pre World Boomerang Championships training venue for those of you bound for Rome. Is this still the plan from the teams perspective?

Everyone interested should just call me with questions at 310.493.7100

May 28 to June 6 Rome, Italy 2010 World Boomerang Championships

June 18-20 Canton, OH Fourth Annual North American LD Open

Gary Broadbent is hosting the North American Long Distance Open (NALDO) tournament June 18-20. David Hirsch is the tournament director. The field is excellent. All are welcome to attend and compete, even if you've never thrown long distance before. (There will certainly be LD booms available to lend to you if you don't have one.)

This tournament carries on the fine tradition of the Texas LD Shoot-Out, originated by Dave Hughes in 2004 and is making its first appearance outside Texas in the interest of bringing LD throwing to more people (and the chance to hang with Gary!). A good number of long distance competitors have already expressed interest in attending. There will be two rounds of throwing on Saturday and one round on Sunday, giving the maximum opportunity to put up good scores.

If you are interested in competing please contact David Hirsch or me, either via BoomTalk or offline. The registration fee will be $30, which will include our use of the field and insurance. David Hirsch will be making T shirts available at a very resonable cost.

Part of the tradition of this event is for each contestant to bring something for the Prize table. David explains:

"Please remember the Prize Table! Every entrant needs to bring a boomerang related object for the table. As I mentioned a while back, this is in addition to the trophies... the lowest score picks first and then upwards until all items are gone. You can put in more than one thing if you want. If there are more items than throwers, we just start over. I'll be putting in a new G10 Voyager. It's a great tradition we have; please plan on something cool. The items do not have to be LD in nature."

If you're interested and want more information, feel free to sign up for the LD Boomerangs yahoo group: http://sports. groups.yahoo. com/group/ LDBoomerangs/

September 4th Delaware, Ohio Carpe Diem LD Tournament

This long distance tournament will be held on September 4th the day before Chet Snouffer's Free Throwers boomerang tournament on September 5th. Both tournaments will be held at the polo field in Delaware, Ohio.

For more information, contact David Hirsch at duckhead@airmail.net.

September 5th Delaware, Ohio Free Throwers Tourney

Time: Est. 9:00am - 6:00pm

The 31st Annual Delaware Ohio Free Thrower's Fling is going to go on Sunday September 5, wedged neatly in between the Sat and Mon "travel days" like the Memorial Tourney in Saint Louis traditionally has been held.

The tourney will be held at and ON the immaculately groomed polo fi...eld in Delaware! No polo. Just booms and more booms!

I talked to Chi-town and he is going to go later in September so we don't conflict. (He wasn't doing Labor Day from the start). This separates us from the nationals and Farm tourney by a month each direction. Nice!

Order of events will be:

ACC
TC/DBL
MTA
AUSSIE
FC
END

The traditional Delaware order putting ACC and TC early before wind, MTA and AUSSIE in mid day and FC/END last as is tradition! Finish tough or die trying :-)

More information will be posted at www.leadingedgeboomerangs.com and announced online here.

September 25th Waterloo, Illinois 23rd Annual Gateway Classic Boomerang Tournament

Time: Est. 9:00am - 6:00pm

The 23rd Annual Gateway Classic Boomerang Tournament will take place in the St. Louis area on Saturday, September 25th, 2010. The first Gateway Classic back in 1988 was held in September, so I guess we're getting back to our roots for this year! The Gateway Classic has been on Memorial Day weekend every year since 1989, but this year the World Boomerang Championships in Rome fell on the same weekend, so we had to move it.

I still need to investigate a field. I have a feeling that the field at Konarcik Park in Waterloo, Illinois, which is always deserted in May, will be busy with football come September. If that field is not available, I have a backup field that is also here in Waterloo.

We'll do the night-before BBQ at my place on Friday evening, and the tournament awards and some pizza also at my place Saturday evening. We'll miss the long weekend, but we should still be able to pack in lots of fun over the weekend.

The order of events, the same for each of the previous twenty-two contests, will be:

Trick Catch/Doubling
Accuracy
Australian Round
MTA
Fast Catch
Endurance

I'll provide more details as to location of the tourney and times as I figure them out. If you want to get a jump on a hotel reservation, Waterloo has two motels, the classic old Sunset Motel, and a Super 8. The next town up the highway, Columbia, Illinois, has a Hampton Inn. There are also some pretty nice bed & breakfasts around Waterloo.

I hope to see some of you guys come September! MHR,

Chicago Bob
