 boomerangUSA: an introduction
The sport of boomerangs is cool. You know that already. So why isn't it more popular? We think the answer is easy: The growth of boomerangs is dependent on diverse, creative activity at the local level. BoomerangUSA was founded to make it easier for local boomerang events to happen. More local tournaments means more new people introduced to the sport. More new boomers means more tournaments. The cycle continues.

what we do
The purpose of BoomerangUSA is to provide an open channel for the natural evolution of the sport of boomerangs. We believe that boomerangs as a competition sport has much potential that has not yet been fully unleashed. We have a plan to do just that.

how we do it
We believe that more local tournaments will introduce more new people to boomerangs in a positive way better than any other tool. BoomerangUSA
makes it easy to hold local tournaments and provides incentives for doing so. We make it easy by providing tournament resources like scoresheets and rulebooks and step-by-step advice. Our most visible and most important incentive to host a tournament and to attend more tournaments is that a player's score at any tournament can qualify that player for the BoomerangUSA Championships.

incentives

Your scores at any tournament can qualify you for the BoomerangUSA Championships. The more tournaments you attend, the better chance you have at posting that top qualifying score! Of course, our secret agenda is that by hosting more tournaments, and thereby more chances to improve your qualifying score, more people are exposed to the rad, rad world of boomerangs and our sport grows!

All qualifying scores will be posted on the BoomerangUSA website as well as an overall national ranking system. Individual qualifying scores can be made in any format (Head-to-Head, team, traditional track meet-style tournament, or other format--be creative!), but the BoomerangUSA Championships will be in the Head-to-Head format.

We will also accept all scores from all events, including events other than the six BoomerangUSA Championship qualifier events and even brand new events that nobody has even invented yet! All we ask if for you to submit the rules of your event along with your scores so that everyone else can try it, too. BoomerangUSA will only accept scores from US Boomerang Association (USBA) sanctioned tournaments, as we do not wish to compete with the USBA, but to complement it.

We make it easy to host a boomerang tournament in your town. BoomerangUSA is your resource for free scoresheets, rulebooks, and step-by-step instructions for running events, training spotters, and promoting your tournament! The USBA can provide these to you as well--we just want to give tournament directors another reliable source for this information.

boomerangUSA championships

The BoomerangUSA Championships is a Head2Head tournament contesting the following six events: Trick Catch, Aussie Round, Accuracy, MTA, 30M Relay, and Speed. All competitors who achieve the minimum qualifying score in an event during the regular season are invited to compete in that event at the BUSA Championships. Qualifiers in four events are eligible to compete in all six events.

Bracket seedings for the BoomerangUSA Championships are determined by the season rankings of the throwers in each event. Ties are broken with overall rankings. Another reason to keep going to more tournaments!

The 2002 BoomerangUSA Championships will be promoted and marketed to potential sponsors and to the media. The 2001 BoomerangUSA Championships will be our pilot tournament.

boomerangUSA operation
