Australian Round
An event that combines accuracy, distance, and catching.
One of the harder events to throw in, Aussie Round requires more space to throw in than most other events, and has a more complex points system. However, it is one of the most anticipated events in a tournament!

This event combines accuracy, distance, and catching, and is one of the harder events to throw in. Each thrower gets five throws from the center of the bullseye, with each throw worth up to 20 points, for a total of 100 points for the event.
Points are called out after each throw in order of range-catch-accuracy. The highest possible score distribution for a throw is a 6-4-10.
Throws are automatically assigned zeros in a few scenarios:
- The throw does not make 20m
- The throw lands outside of the 10m circle and is not caught
- You interfere with a tandem thrower’s throw or catch
Points System
Range Points
Throws can range from 2-6 points for range. The boomerang must cross the 20m mark, no points are given if the boomerang does not reach 20m. 2 points are given once it crosses 30m, 4 points for 40m, and 6 points once the boomerang passes 50m.
Catching Points
The simplest of the three components. You get four points if you catch the boomerang, and zero if you do not. However, you can still get accuracy and range points even if you do not catch the boomerang, as long as it lands within the 10m mark.
Accuracy Points
This component is where most points are lost, but is also where you can get the most. It is better to have an accurate boomerang that cannot quite make 50m than to have one that consistently makes 50m, but is not nearly as accurate.
This score ranges from 0-10. If you land in the bullseye, you get 10 points, and it descends the further out you go. If the boomerang lands beyond the 10m mark, you get no accuracy points. If the boomerang lands on the line between two point zones, you get the average of the zones. For example, if the boomerang landed on the 4m mark, you would get 7 points, as it is between the 8pt and 6pt zones. The boomerang is considered on the line if it is touching any blade of grass that has majority paint on it.
Tandem Throwing
In tournaments, throwers generally go in tandem with one other thrower. This is where two throwers will throw within a three-second time period. The second thrower makes zero points if they wait longer than three seconds to make their throw.
