38th Annual Gateway Classic Boomerang Tournament – Memorial Day Weekend – St. Louis

Ladies and Gentlemen, Spring is in the air, and that means that it is almost time for the 38th Annual Gateway Classic! This year’s edition of The Classic will once again be held at Konarcik Park in beautiful Waterloo, Illinois, just outside of St. Louis, over the Memorial Day weekend. The format will be very similar to previous year’s, with a whole weekend of fun!

Saturday, May 23rd, come on out to the field when you get to town, cram in a whole off-season’s worth of training in a couple of hours, then head to Chicago Bob’s place for dinner, beverages and social hour.

Sunday, May 24th is competition day. Please arrive at the field by 8:30 am to register, then at 9:00 am we will do the National Anthem and kick off the first event. The order of events will be:

1. Trick Catch/Doubling
2. Accuracy
3. Australian Round
4. MTA
5. Fast Catch
6. Endurance

After the tournament wraps up, we will all head back to Chicago Bob’s for dinner, beverages, and awards.

Monday is wide open to throw on the field or be a tourist.

The Gateway Classic is beloved because it is very laid back and rookie-friendly. The world’s best boomerang throwers are mixed in with rookies, so coaching and a loaned boomerang are never far away. It’s a great day to learn more about throwing than you would in a year of throwing solo on your local pitch!

Please let Chicago Bob (aka me!) know if you plan to come as there are trophies for all and two meals, so it helps to have a head count! Hope to see everyone here in Waterloo in a couple of months!
